Question marks at some points

The converted document sometimes shows question marks at some points and/or it displays certain characters differently. What to do?

This may often happen only when you convert an html file (say a.html) created in MS-Word. MS-Word uses MS-Office specific html tags which will display properly only if you save the converted html file (say out1.html) again in MS-Word with a different name (out2.html). Do read the topic on how to convert formatted text in this regard.

The converted document may appear differently also in cases where the source html document is very poorly structured and tagged.
