    2. What additional features are available in standard/professional versions?
The fundamental difference between the 4 versions is as follows. (For a detailed comparative features list, always visit http://www.azhagi.com/diffs.html)

      • Ami version provides a 'Dual Screen' interface alone. i.e. you type in a top screen in English and the corresponding Tamil text appears in the bottom screen. You do all your typing and editing in the English text area only. And, the Tamil text area gets edited automatically, instantly and synchronisedly. We find that for a section of our users, this is the most comfortable and easiest way to type out Tamil text.
      • Basic version - you have all the features of the ami version. i.e. Dual screen transliteration is still possible. Additionally, you can make azhagi 'full screen'. As you type in English in the full screen, you obtain only the corresponding Tamil text. The English text you type will never be visible or available later. You can efffect Unicode Input. i.e. Type/Save/Print/Publish/Email/Chat/Blog and Build websites in Unicode Tamil. Unicode conversion of your typed plain Tamil text (in Tscii) is possible. Tamil Typewriting and Tamilnet99 modes also possible during Tscii input.
      • Standard version - you have all the features of basic version. Additionally, you can transliterate in Tamil directly in ANY windows application like MS-Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Pagemaker, Photoshop, Hotmail, Yahoo! Messenger etc. Unicode conversion of files (*.html, *.txt and *.js) possible. Auto-insertion of user-defined Tamil phrases.
      • Professional version - you have all the features of standard version. Additionally, you can do Direct Unicode Typing in ALL unicode-aware windows applications like MS-Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook Express, Notepad, Wordpad etc. Plus, a host of other features like Unicode batch conversion (converting multiple files at the same time), Auto-transliteration of existing texts in Excel sheets, Word documents, Web pages etc, Reverse Transliteration (convert Tamil to English) etc. Availing the power of Unicode, one can sort in Unicode Tamil in Excel, Access etc., Find & Replace in Unicode Tamil in MS-Word, Excel etc., Have file names in Tamil, etc. etc.
        Advantages of "Unicode"
        • If you email/chat/share documents in Unicode Tamil, your WinXP/Win2K recipients do not require any Tamil font at their end to view your Tamil text.
        • You can straightaway start typing in any application in Tamil without setting/changing to any Tamil font initially.
        • Unicode is the Universal Standard recognised by Microsoft for now and the future. (Azhagi is both 'state-of-the-art' & 'future-ready' that way).
