God is inscrutable. He can’t be realised in the outer objective world; He is in the very heart of every being. Gemstones must be sought deep underground; they do not float in mid-air. Seek God in the depths of yourself, not in the tantalising, kaleidoscopic Nature. The body is granted to you for this high purpose; you are now misusing it, like the person who cooked his daily food in a gem-studded gold vase that came as an heirloom. Man extols God as omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent, but ignores His presence in himself! Of course, many venture to describe the attributes of God and proclaim Him to be such and such; these are but their own guesses and the reflections of their own predilections and preferences. Who can affirm that God is this or that? Who can affirm that God is not of this form or with this attribute? Each one acquires from the vast expanse of the ocean only as much as can be contained in the vessel he carries to the shore. From that quantity, they can grasp but little of that immensity. இறைவன் அறிவுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டவன். பொருட்களாலான புற உலகில் அவனை உணர முடியாது; அவன் ஒவ்வொரு உயிரினத்தின் இதயத்துள்ளும் உறைகிறான். ரத்தினக் கற்களை பூமியின் ஆழத்திலிருந்துதான் பெற வேண்டும்; அவை காற்றில் மிதப்பதில்லை. உங்கள் ஆழ்மனதில் இறைவனைத் தேடுங்கள்; மனதைக் கவரும் பல்வண்ணக் காட்சிகளைக் கொண்ட இயற்கையில் அல்ல. இந்த உயர்ந்த நோக்கத்திற்காகவே உடல் உங்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது; பரம்பரைச் சொத்தாக வந்த ரத்தினம் பதித்த தங்கக் குவளையில் தனது அன்றாட உணவைச் சமைப்பவனைப் போல் இப்போது அதைத் தவறாகப் பயன்படுத்திக் கொண்டிருக்கிறீர்கள். இறைவனை, எங்கும் நிறைந்தவன், எல்லாம் அறிந்தவன், எல்லாம் வல்லவன் என்றெல்லாம் மனிதன் போற்றுகிறான், ஆனால் தன்னுள்ளேயே அவன் இருப்பதைப் புறக்கணிக்கிறான்! பலர் இறைவனின் குணங்களை வர்ணிக்க முற்பட்டு, அவன் இப்படிப்பட்டவன், அப்படிப்பட்டவன் என்று பறைசாற்றுகிறார்கள்; இவை அவர்களின் யூகங்கள் மற்றும் சொந்த விருப்பு வெறுப்புகளின் பிரதிபலிப்புகளே அன்றி வேறில்லை. இறைவன் இதுதான், அதுதான் என்று யாரால் அறுதியிட்டுக் கூற இயலும்? இறைவன் இந்த ரூபத்தில் இல்லை என்றோ இந்த குணம் கொண்டவர் என்றோ யாரால் உறுதிப்பட கூற முடியும்? ஒவ்வொருவரும் பரந்து விரிந்த பெருங்கடலிலிருந்து தான் கொண்டு செல்லும் பாத்திரத்தின் கொள்ளளவு நீரை மட்டுமே கரைக்கு கொண்டு செல்ல இயலும். அந்த சிறிய அளவிலிருந்து, அதன் மகத்துவத்தை அவர்களால் சிறிதளவே புரிந்து கொள்ள முடியும்.
