The Buddhi (Intellect) has to be kept sharp, clear and straight. There are four directions in which the intellect guides man: (1) Swartha-sukha-buddhi - this indicates the fully egoistic nature, where the Individual does not care for even his wife and children, but is eager to fulfill his own needs first and foremost. Then, we have (2) Swartha-parartha-sukha-buddhi - this allows some consideration for the happiness of others also. The next variety is (3) Parartha-buddhi - those who have this, seek for others as much happiness as they seek for themselves. They are prepared to undergo any trouble to secure for others too what they feel will grant them happiness. The next is (4) Adhyatmic-buddhi (spiritual intellect) - this leads man ever on the path of renunciation and service, for, they alone lead to Spiritual advancement. The Adhyatmic intellect recognises the Unity of creation and so, what the other person feels is felt by the individual too, to the same degree. (Divine Discourse, Apr 04,1975)

THAT DEFACES THE DIVINE NATURE OF MAN. - BABA

புத்தியை கூர்மையாகவும், தெளிவாகவும், நேராகவும் வைத்துக் கொள்ளவேண்டும். நான்கு விதமான திசைகளில் புத்தி மனிதனை இட்டுச் செல்கிறது: (1) ஸ்வார்த்த-சுக-புத்தி - தனது மனைவி, மக்களைப் பற்றிக்கூட அக்கறை இன்றி தனது சொந்தத் தேவைகளை மட்டும் முதன்முதலில் பூர்த்தி செய்து கொள்வதில் ஆவலாக இருக்கும் மனிதனின் முழு அஹங்கார இயல்பை இது குறிக்கிறது. (2) ஸ்வார்த்த-பரார்த்த-சுக-புத்தி - இது, மற்றவர்களின் சந்தோஷத்திற்கும் ஓரளவு இடம் அளிக்கிறது. (3) பரார்த்த-புத்தி - இதை உடையவர்கள், தாங்கள் எவ்வளவு சந்தோஷத்தைப் பெறவேண்டுமென விரும்புகிறார்களோ அதே அளவு மற்றவர்களும் பெறவேண்டுமென விரும்புவர். தங்களுக்கு சந்தோஷம் அளிக்கும் என்று கருதுவதை மற்றவர்களுக்கும் பெற்றுத் தருவதற்காக எந்தக் கஷ்டத்தையும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளத் தயாராக இருப்பார்கள். (4) ஆத்யாத்மிக-புத்தி - இது மனிதனை எப்போதும் துறவு மற்றும் சேவையின் பாதையில் வழிநடத்திச் செல்லும், ஏனெனில், அவை மட்டுமே ஆன்மிக முன்னேற்றத்திற்கு இட்டுச் செல்பவையாகும். ஆத்யாத்மிக புத்தி படைப்பின் ஏகத்துவத்தை இனம் கண்டு கொள்கிறது; எனவே, அடுத்த மனிதர் உணர்வதை ஒருவர் தானும் அதே அளவு உணர்கிறார்.
