Education lends beauty to man. Education is man's most precious wealth. It confers happiness and renown on man. It is the teacher of teachers. When a man travels abroad, education stands by him like a kinsman. Education is adored by rulers, not wealth. One without education is an animal. Degrees alone do not signify education. Education that is confined to the physical sciences is a travesty of true education. Together with the knowledge of the natural sciences, one has to acquire humility, discipline and a good character. Everyone should recognise this sacred character of education. The student of today is concerned with acquiring wealth, strength and position, but not good qualities. Education is meant to enable one to acquire the knowledge of good qualities. Every student should take note of this. Education is not intended merely to stuff the brain with information. It has to transform the heart and make it pure. (Divine Discourse, Nov 22, 1990)

கல்வி மனிதனுக்கு அழகூட்டுகிறது. கல்வியே மனிதனின் மதிப்புமிக்கசெல்வமாகும். அது மனிதனுக்கு சந்தோஷம் மற்றும் புகழை அளிக்கிறது. அது ஆசிரியருக்கெல்லாம் ஆசிரியராகும். ஒரு மனிதன் வெளிநாடு செல்லும்போது, கல்வி அவனுக்கு உறவினரைப் போல துணை நிற்கிறது. கல்வியே ஆட்சியாளர்களால் போற்றப்படுகிறது, செல்வம் அல்ல. கல்வியறிவு அற்றவன் ஒரு விலங்கே. பட்டங்கள் மட்டுமே கல்வியைக் குறிப்பதில்லை. பொருட்களைப் பற்றிய அறிவியலோடு நின்றுவிடும் கல்வி, உண்மையான கல்வியை ஒரு கேலிக்கூத்தாக ஆக்கி விடுகிறது. இயற்கை விஞ்ஞான அறிவுடன் கூடவே, பணிவு, ஒழுக்கநெறி மற்றும் நல்ல குணநலன் ஆகியவற்றையும் ஒருவர் பெறவேண்டும். ஒவ்வொருவரும் கல்வியின் புனிதத்தன்மையை உணர வேண்டும். இன்றைய மாணவன், செல்வம், வலிமை மற்றும் பதவி ஆகியவற்றைப் பெறுவதிலேயே குறியாக இருக்கிறானே அன்றி, நற்குணங்களைப் பெறுவதில் அல்ல. கல்வி என்பது ஒருவர் நற்குணங்களைப் பற்றிய அறிவைப் பெறுவதற்காகவே. ஒவ்வொரு மாணவனும் இதை கவனத்தில் கொள்ள வேண்டும். கல்வி என்பது தகவல்களால் மூளையை அடைப்பதை மட்டுமே நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டதல்ல. அது இதயத்தை நல்மாற்றம் செய்து பரிசுத்தமானதாக ஆக்க வேண்டும். மனிதத்தன்மைக்கு அடையாளமாக எண்ணம், சொல், செயல் ஆகியவற்றில் மனிதர்கள் நேர்மையாக இருப்பதற்கு கல்வியானது போதிக்க வேண்டும். - பாபா
